Tiffany Howell's creative career began long before interiors. Early on, she joined Herb Ritts' Los Angeles studio, where she saw an opportunity to bring the directors and image-makers within Ritts/Hayden into music video. She pursued the idea and ultimately built and led the company's music video department.

Tiffany later directed a video for The Fire Theft and co-founded an independent production company creating photography and video projects for Converse, Levi's and Target. She also pursued her own photography and poetry; one of her poems was published in a book honoring Leonard Cohen's 75th birthday.

Interiors came later. Not as a reinvention, but as another medium.

Tiffany founded Night Palm in Los Angeles, bringing a creative vocabulary shaped by film, music, photography, fashion, poetry and art. Today she is an ELLE DECOR A-List designer, with work featured in Architectural Digest, ELLE DECOR, T Magazine, Vogue Living, Harper's Bazaar and Robb Report, and included in Phaidon's Defining Style and Architectural Digest's AD at Home.

Tiffany begins each project with the place and the people who will inhabit it rather than a predetermined style. Architecture, history, light and character meet the client's life, interests and desires, while references from film, art, music, fashion and memory shape the creative direction. She calls this process The Romance of Ideas.

Tiffany sources widely across contemporary design, vintage and art, while also designing and fabricating original pieces specifically for a project. The result is less a signature style than a portrait: a home that could belong to no one else.

​

Her practice now extends beyond interiors through furniture, products, art, cultural spaces and experiences, including the Poet Sofa for Ellison Studios, Howell × Harrier for Crate & Barrel, and work with The Branch Museum of Design, the David Lynch Estate and an installation at this year's Art Basel Miami with  ELLE DECOR × Miele.
