Set within a stately 1923 building in Los Angeles’ Koreatown, this 2,200-square-foot apartment was designed for a cinematographer and television writer. Night Palm blended the romance of an old Italian residence with a 1970s sensibility, creating a layered home shaped by film, fashion and the patina of collected objects.

THE DESIGN STORY
Hemingway’s Mistress began with a desire for an apartment that felt inherited rather than newly composed. Night Palm drew from tall Parisian rooms, the Chateau Marmont under fog and the quiet intelligence of Joan Didion’s 2015 Céline campaign. Within the architecture of a historic 1923 Koreatown building, those references became the foundation for a home that suggests an old Italian apartment filtered through the 1970s.
